“Whose Report will you Believe?” by Jessica

“Whose Report will you Believe?” by Jessica

February 8, 2021 Posted by S. Neyra Offender Devotionals

Have you ever bought a new gadget or device and not read its manual?  While you may be satisfied with the little that you know it can do, the manufacturer is probably grieving and thinking, “My device is truly capable of so much more.  Just read the manual.”  That’s God to me… “If only they would open My Word.”

We’re daily bombarded with the world’s point of view…a myriad of thoughts, words, and ideas that tear us down come from friends, family, coworkers, etc.  Life, in general, is great at reminding us of our faults, flaws, and failures, but how often are we truly being lifted up, encouraged, and edified by the world?  Probably not near as much.  It’s so easy to believe what you’re told daily by social media and those closest to you, but what about what Daddy God says about you?  How often do you sit and dwell on what your Creator says about you?

It’s vital that we have a renewed mind; that we bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.  When you read your Bible, meditate on what it says about you.  Let these thoughts become automatic; hide them in your heart.  These are some of my favorite go-to verses:

: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

: “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”  (Isaiah 54:17)

: “I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, a lender and not a borrower.” (Dueteronomy 28:13, 15:6)

: “He will never leave me nor forsake me.”  (Hebrews 13:5)

: “I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

: “I’m in this world but not of this world. ” (John 15:19)

: “In Him we live, move, and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)

: “Greater is He that is in me then he that is in the world.” (I John 4:4)

: “I have all things that pertain to life and godliness.” (2 Peter 1:3)

: “Grace and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” (Psalm 23:6)

: “I am the apple of His eye.” (Psalm 17:8)

: “I shall live and not die.” (Psalm 118:17)

: “He knows the thoughts that He thinks towards me, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give me a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

: “I’m a joint heir with Christ.” (Romans 8:17)

: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to The Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)

God’s Word tells us, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).  So, know that God wants us to open this treasure, His Word, and see who we really are in Christ.  He says we’re royalty!  He said we were designed for greater things than this.  So, I challenge you to open your Bible and meditate on God’s truth about you.  You’ll begin to see all that you’re capable of.  Your new identity awaits!  You’re a new creature in Christ.  “Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).  You are an Ambassador for Christ (vs. 20).

Next time you hear bad news or you’re labeled about the old man that you’ve put off…” Whose report will you believe?”  The worlds or God’s?  The choice is up to you.  Please always remind yourself that your life is significant – it has purpose – you were chosen before the world’s foundation, and Daddy God loves you unconditionally.
