“Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious Name.”
I Chronicles 29:13 (NKJV)
Let’s talk about what it means to be thankful to our God! I mean, let’s face it, we have no problem asking God for all the things we think we need. When life gets tough and we’re struggling, we drop to our knees and ask “Why?!” Are we ever truly grateful, though? When all is well in our life, do we stop to just say, “Thank You, God!”
Why don’t we put our heads together and see what we can come up with to show us how truly blessed we are and how absolutely, wonderfully, worthy our God is! He deserves our praise, all our gratitude, always!
When we knew only sorrow, He gave us laughter, and when we were lost, He said…”Just look up.”
He taught us that instead of resentment we can be filled with love, and trade envy for contentment.
When we are critical of others, He shows us acceptance.
When we are cynical, He lets us see what faith looks like,
When we can’t, or won’t let go of our own control, He tells us, “Let go, surrender, let Me be God!”
He lets us know there is no room for rebellion, only obedience.
He lets us see that we need to replace our indifference with compassion.
When we are faced with hypocrisy, He shows us Truth.
He takes our bitterness and teaches us forgiveness.
He removes our chaos and frustration and replaces it with His peace and patience.
He turns our mistakes into wisdom and teaches us that only a fool would rather spread gossip than spread the Gospel!
When we will not be quiet, He softly and gently whispers to us… “Shhh… just listen.”
While God has shown us all these things, He is still at work in all of us – over time – time and a half – and then some! For all you do and will continue to do Lord, we say, “THANK YOU GOD!”
