“Power Nap,” by Jamelle

“Power Nap,” by Jamelle

June 28, 2021 Posted by S. Neyra Offender Devotionals

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends, with the Lord a day is a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day”

2 Peter 3:8 (NIV)

Have you ever told yourself you would take a nap, but to your surprise, when you woke up, only 3 minutes had passed? How is that possible, you ask yourself, recalling the very vivid dream you just had, which felt like it lasted for an hour or maybe even days. What about this…has your loved one ever passed away and all you can do is think about all the years you’ll have to spend in this world without them now? I can relate to that too. Time can really play tricks on us depending on how we perceive it. I have a solution. Let’s think of our time apart from our angels as a power nap! It feels like it lasts forever, but in reality, it’s quick. The Bible states that one day in Heaven is like a thousand years time to us down here!

While we worry and fret over the absence of our loved ones, they are waiting for a new day and a new opportunity to welcome someone new into the kingdom. My advice to those who share my pain is to look past all of the negative aspects of how time works on earth. Have tunnel vision and look forward to the moment you’ve been dreaming of, that moment when you and your special someone will meet again.

There’s one more person who is patiently waiting to see you too. The Lord has been waiting since you were knit together in your mother’s womb to bring you to Heaven and shower you with all His glory. All we have to do is accept and declare Him as our Lord and Savior and our place in Heaven is reserved. I challenge you to not spend another moment being sad, grieving, or reminding yourself of who you have lost. Instead, rejoice in the fact that soon you can spend eternity with your loved ones in a place of peace and tranquility, where death no longer exists. It’ll be one big family event!

The good news is, unlike now, you don’t have to wait all year to see your favorite relatives. God already declared in His Word that it won’t take that long. To guarantee that, we have to trust Him and truly know that the suffering we may go through after the earthly departure of someone we care for, will just be for a brief moment, not an entire lifetime. If you’ve ever watched those videos showing a soldier’s return home, I can only imagine that’s how God and everyone we love will be waiting to greet us at the gates upon our return home. Just begin to be consistent in your prayers, have strong faith, and stay dedicated to the Lord. In the blink of an eye, you’ll be standing face to face, reunited at last with the ones you’ve missed….smiling and radiating with each other’s love.

What a glorious reunion it will be when you wake up from this power nap! Remember, it’s not goodbye it’s “I’ll see you soon!”

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11
