As I prepared to write this devotional, I had doubts if the words coming from me, a prisoner, would be sufficient enough to serve God’s purpose…so I prayed. I asked for strength and guidance, and that the words I wrote would be from God and God alone.
Having now prayed, I reached for the Bible I had been reading earlier. The reality of what I had been reading struck me. Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” How quickly God works but He wasn’t done yet. It was then that the confirmation of my prayer came to be.
As I flipped through the pages to get to the book of Romans, only the red letters on the pages stood out to me… II Corinthians 12:9 (KNJV)… “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Those were words said to Paul. I then thought of everything Paul went through. How he was remade into a new creation in Christ.
I too am a new creation in Christ, and I was doubting myself because of my circumstances. I was reminded of another man in the Bible, Jeremiah, and the words said to him. Jeremiah 18:1-6 (NKJV) vs.6, “…can I not do with you as this potter? Look at the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand.” My doubts were now gone. I know that it doesn’t matter what we are going through in life, or where we may be… we can always be taken into God’s hands and be remade into new creations.
Prayer: “Lord, into Your hands, I surrender myself. Make me a new creation. I trust in You Lord. I trust in Your love, Your grace, and Your strength to always comfort and guide me. Amen.”
