“Best day I’ve had since my son was born!”
These are the kind of touching comments we received as our Day with Dad came to a close this weekend. We are so grateful to God and so thankful for all of you who prayed for this weekend! God’s favor was on it and it was successful in every way! Thirteen families were there to participate in this wonderful day. From the moment they walked in and gave their dads the hugs they had been waiting so long for, to watching all of them having so much fun with every activity, this day brought so many smiles and tears to them and to us!
God gave us a beautiful day…
that started out with the men and their families loving on each other and reconnecting upon arrival. Lots of fun games and contests followed that they enjoyed competing in together. The kids loved seeing their dads getting up and being silly as they showed them their skills with hula hoops and potato sack races! Crafts, lunch, a movie, table games, and a fun time of dancing brought this day to a close, where saying good-bye is the hardest part.
As always, the decorations were completely amazing and the Disney® characters that were all around the room were definitely professional quality. We want to express our deep appreciation to Jacob Munoz, who has always blessed our events with the amazing talent that God has given him! He created this wonderful Disney decor in advance before he left Hughes, and it completely filled the room with such a fun and festive atmosphere!
One of our goals of this awesome day is to give these children a chance to experience time with their dads as if prison walls didn’t exist, and one of the men shared with us that…
…his son actually said that to him…that it was like they weren’t even in prison!
This whole day is designed after the heart of God….His heart to see family relationships restored, and to see wounded hearts find healing even after many years. He is so faithful to always fill the room with His presence at these events, and His love being there allows all of that to happen!
Thank you to every volunteer who came and played a big part in the success of this day! All of us love being a part in helping these families to have the best day and in return we walk away completely blessed ourselves! We definitely feel it is a great privilege to get to serve Jesus by serving every one of these precious families!
