Rain wasn’t the only thing pouring down on Hughes Thursday morning…
…as the Holy Spirit led our team of volunteers and other ministries all over the unit to share the love of Christ with the men in white!
Our male volunteers were able to spend a few hours in 12 building chatting with the same men we provided hot dogs to in January. Our ladies were able to go throughout the administration area with trays of cookies expressing our appreciation to the administration staff and officers.
We know that God is working mightily in the lives of all of these men during this week of revival…
but our volunteers were also greatly impacted and blessed during their time there. Here are a few of their thoughts on what they took away from this day of ministry.
First time volunteer, Brooke, shared….
“It was inspiring to see the faith these guys had. It made little inconveniences I have seem so small and really put into perspective how to have faith through the hard times, instead of always praying that God makes things easy. The relationships were incredible and I was so blown away by the kindness of the men there, and the deep close connections they feel to Susan, Bob, and the others they know. The tent revival was so incredible on so many different levels. There was such a genuineness there and I could really feel God moving!”
Volunteer Jacob had this to say…
“Yesterday was one of the greatest times I’ve had all year! Being able to see my brothers in white is such a blessing to my heart. I love being able to spend time with them and being able to give them hope in an otherwise hopeless place. The fellowship and joy of being together with my long-time friends, brings happiness to my soul. Talking to them about what Jesus has done for me gives them hope that He is there with them as well. I look forward to seeing them soon. Thank you to D4C, for giving me the platform to speak the name of JESUS over my brothers at the Hughes unit. I give all the glory to God!!”
Volunteer Jeff shared with us…
“I had several conversations with the men in Ad-Seg. I don’t know how many were truly believers or unbelievers, but all the conversations contained the same theme. The more I talked with and shared with these men, I realized more and more how much we had in common. I shared bullet points of my personal journey and detailed what I believe Christ had done for me and in me. More than once I was able to share the reality of how I believe Christ sees us and our sin. Several times during the morning I felt compelled to tell these men, as it pertains to our sin, the only difference between me and them was which side of the metal door we were standing on…other than that, in Christ’s eyes, we are the same and His love for us is the same.”
Every time we as volunteers walk into these units to bring the love of Jesus, we always come away overwhelmed by the joy of serving Him by serving those the world often forgets.
God is moving mightily throughout the earth, but we rejoice that this week He is definitely moving through the Hughes unit!
We pray that this revival will continue in the hearts of these men long after the tent comes down, and that every seed sown will result in a great harvest of souls!
