Ministry work within the gates of a Texas Prison shouldn’t be limited to the 4 walls of a unit chapel. There are times you have to think outside the box and be willing to meet people where they are at and if that’s on the rec yard of the prison then that’s exactly what we at Disciples 4 Christ is willing to do.
Inmate Jacob Munoz had a desire to learn about physical fitness, nutrition and the importance of have a positive community within the gates of Alfred D. Hughes unit. It was through his eyes that our Kingdom Impact CrossFit program was birthed.
Kingdom Impact isn’t solely about physical fitness. It is also about inmates pushing boundaries and realizing their potential with God by their side. Through these workouts and discussions about nutrition, we’re able to inspire these men to see that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them. Through this program, it is inspiring to watch as the inmates learn to encourage each other and to hold their brothers in Christ accountable not only in their workouts, but their everyday walk with God.
