What an awesome year God blessed D4C with!
We’d love to take you on a quick look back at some of the wonderful opportunities we had in 2022 to go behind-the-walls and minister the love of God to so many men and women!
12 Building Outreach
One of our first opportunities was our 12 Building Outreach at the Hughes unit, where 30 of our volunteers came in and prepared hotdogs for the men and then handed them out as they ministered cell to cell. They were very grateful that they ended up having enough time to minister in both the 12 and 8 Buildings. This time of ministry was a special blessing to these men as they are not able to participate in regular chapel services. The experience our volunteers had getting to interact and visit with these men touched not only those inside the cells, but also impacted our men so much that we have decided to carry on the outreach in 2023.
The Return of Family Fun Days
We were blessed in the spring and fall to finally be able to hold our Family Fun Days after 2 long years! It was such a great time hosting our Day with Mom at the Hilltop and Mountain View units and our Day with Dad at the Hughes unit. The families were so grateful they were able to participate in these special days that they had been looking forward to for so long! All of these events were so fun and festive with great decorations and many activities for the kids and their parents to enjoy together! We always get so many heartfelt expressions of appreciation from the moms, dads, kids, and family members that come to be a part of these wonderful days! Sowing the gift of time spent together into these families’ lives is one of our greatest blessings!
First Blessing Bowl
This year we were also excited to hold our very first bowling tournament as our fundraiser for the year. Many generous hearts gave donations to raise money for our year-end Blessing Bag event and for the upcoming events we will have during 2023. We love serving together behind prison walls, but we also enjoy having fun together during events like this! Some were great bowlers and others not so much, but it all came together as a great night of fellowship for our volunteers!
Blessing Bag Outreach
God has been so good and opened doors for us to continue our Blessing Bag Outreaches even during the past two years with Covid restrictions in place. This December we were able to hold our 14th Annual Blessing Bag Outreach and give every man in the unit a bag full of small items that remind them how much they are loved! Twenty-five of our volunteers and 25 men in white were able to load 3,000 bags to pass out, and others were able to bring some Christmas cheer as they decorated the chapel! They were able to fellowship around the table with the men as they and the officers who worked that day enjoyed a burger with all the fixings. The day ended with more than 300 men attending the chapel service to hear the Word of God from our volunteers, as well as in the Sunday morning service. Such a meaningful weekend that always gets the season of giving started off right!
All Thanks Go to Our Lord & Savior
Throughout the year we have so many faithful volunteers that head to many different units for chapel services. These services have seen great times of praise and worship, many salvations, and lots of men and women ministered to through prayer. We are so thankful for the opportunity to lead these services that we know impart many seeds of love, hope, peace, and joy into the lives of all who come.
Everything we’ve been able to do this year is a direct result of the favor of our wonderful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gives us the power and the resources that we need to go behind the walls of prison with His love! We are so grateful to those that link arms with us financially and with powerful prayers, and especially grateful for the men and women who give their time and energy to go in and do the work of ministry! It is such a blessing to be able to do what we do, and we thank God for every opportunity we’ve had and for all that is coming in the new year!
