I find it easier to wake up in the summer.
BY SUSAN NEYRA
In the winter, I struggle to pry my eyes open with a cup of java my loving husband brings to me in bed. Itâs not like that during the summer my eyes pop open and my feet canât wait to hit the ground. I enjoy a cup of coffee on my front porch and then go to my prayer room where I pour my heart out to God.
This morning was no different I had gotten spiritual ready by 7 am and now it was time to get physically ready. I hurried to get my makeup on and get dressed, but I couldnât find the shoes I wanted to wear. I looked everywhere! My closet, under the dresser, the nightstand, even pulled up the bed shirt. As I looked under the bed I saw everything BUT my shoes. Yep, I found my grandbabiesâ toys, a pair of Bobâs shoes, a decorative pillow I had wondered where it was, and HUGE dust rabbits. I know what youâre thinking âits dust bunnies not dust rabbitsâ.
Mine were rabbits! It has been so long since Iâve cleaned under there that my dust bunnies had grown into rabbits (mental note â cleanout under bed). As I crawled over to my closet to check one more place (the dirty clothes hamper) an image of a dusty heart came to my mind.
Just like our homes need a thorough cleaning periodically so do our hearts. I could see Jesus standing by with a Swiffer duster waiting on permission to clean the dusty areas of our hearts. It was about then I realized how often Jesus is ready to jump in and get to work only meet with our unwillingness.
âFather God help me to be sensitive to the areas of my heart that need your gentle touch.â
Verse of the day: âCreate in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.â Psalm 51:10
