Thank you to everyone for your prayers! Our D4C volunteers had a wonderful time of ministry at Hughes!
It was an awesome day of blessing the men of Hughes with our annual Hot Dog outreach!! We provided hotdogs for 600 men in the restrictive housing areas…buildings 8, 10, 11 and 12! Our guys were able to pray and have lots of interaction with the men as they passed them their special meal! The officers and staff were very appreciative, as we were able to bless them with a meal as well!
Four of our female volunteers, with the help of the inmate team, grilled up 1,500 hotdogs and bagged them up to be distributed among the buildings.
We want to give a special thank you to Warden Adkins, Warden Lopez, and Warden Thorpe for making this wonderful day possible! We pray that God’s love was shown and felt by all who participated!
On Sunday, we had a great time with the ladies of the O’Daniel unit! Members of our team spread out all across the unit, to minister in all the restricted housing areas. We could feel everyone’s prayers because the women were very receptive to prayer and eager to be ministered to! Several had recently given their lives to Christ and were needing encouragement in how to walk this new walk of faith. It was awesome to see God moving on their hearts right in front of us!
The chapel service was a wonderful service, where volunteer Dennis Morrow preached a great message on “That’s What Friends Are For” and reminded them of the importance of having godly friends in our lives. The scripture focus was from Mark 2:2-11, and told of the paralyzed man who had friends that were determined to get him to Jesus, so he could be healed. When they couldn’t get in the door because of the great crowd of people, they made a way, by cutting a hole in the roof and lowering him down. Jesus loved the faith they had for their friend! That’s the kind of friends we can all use more of!
The service saw 90 women in attendance, and one girl afterwards told them she had accepted Christ! Jesus was always going after the one, so if the whole service was for her, it was worth it!
We so appreciate all our volunteers for their time and dedication to serving the men and women of these units! We receive so many heartfelt thank you’s from them for our time there, but we always walk away knowing we are the blessed ones, given the privilege of going into these places and sharing the hope we have in our amazing Savior, Jesus!
