Thank you to all who prayed for our Hotdog Outreach at the O’Daniel unit! Our volunteers had such an amazing time with all the women that gathered to share this fun meal together. Hotdogs, chili, and all the trimmings, together with chips, lemonade, and a yummy cupcake put a whole lot of smiles on their faces!
Throughout the day they told us over and over how very much they appreciated us and our willingness to bring them food they really enjoyed. One lady told a volunteer that she hadn’t gotten to have a hotdog in 13 years! It warmed the heart of another volunteer, when she saw a lady with her hands raised and her voice exclaiming loudly…”Thank you Jesus for this chili dog!!”
Such a simple meal, but yet it was able to not only fill their stomachs, but touch their hearts as well.
It made those who sometimes seem resistant to talk, more receptive to listen and hear the hope that we have in Jesus!
A few of them asked our volunteers why we do these kinds of things, which gave a great opportunity to tell them how much God loves them and wants to work in their lives! We heard about their families and had time to listen to whatever they wanted to talk about. We laughed and cried and said lots of prayers together. A couple of the ladies even said they never get to have visitors come visit them. It meant so much to them to see that they are not forgotten and that we cared enough to come and spend time with them! We rejoice that two of the women made an eternal decision and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and many others were ministered to through powerful moments of prayer!!
We do not take for granted the privilege we have of being able to go into this unit and freely share the good news of the gospel!!!
We pray all of the seeds sown will reap a great harvest of righteousness!!
A huge thank you to our founder, Susan, and to all the volunteers who go above and beyond to make outreaches like this happen! So many beautiful servant hearts in D4C and we appreciate every one of them!! The ladies in white pictured here were a vital part of this day as well! They worked hard all day, serving, cleaning and helping us make sure everything ran smoothly! We had a special time of prayer with them at the end, and volunteer Shuwan Hughes prayed over each one of them. We were so grateful for them and their sweet willingness to help! Events like this were some of our founder, Bob Neyra’s favorite times in the units. We miss him so much, but we carry on with his same heart of love for these women and we know he enjoyed looking down and seeing such a blessed day!!
